Yalaha, FL:  Market Open

We are starting to get lettuce and kale again and have a few other things available. I’ve adjusted the regular ordering window a little bit to account for when we are packing up the Restaurant orders. So order now through Thursday 8am for Friday-Sunday pickup.

I may still be able to take orders after Thursday Morning but can’t guarantee availability of things as I may have already packed them for the Restaurants.
Ordering window is Monday Afternoon through Thursday Morning and pick up will be Friday-Sunday by appointment until we expand more, Please indicate when you would like to pick up when you place your order.

Remember to tell me when you want to pick up! (and if I don’t reply to confirm within a day, bump my e-mail or text me 407-342-8515. Though I have cleaned up my e-mail so hopefully I won’t Miss Anyone.)

Sign in to order. https://yalaha.locallygrown.net/market

You have to sign in to see the add to cart button. Then set the number and click the add to cart button on the items you want to buy (it is the little picture right next to the quantity box.) Remember you need to check out before your order will be placed.
Remember to let me know when you want to pick up on Sat or maybe even Friday late afternoon or on Sunday. (If I don’t send you an e-mail confirmation of your order and pick up time, please make sure you checked out and completed your order.)

New Grower to the Market:

Please welcome Baker Family Pastures: We are a pastured poultry and beef farm committed to raising high quality nutrient dense meat through sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. Our chickens and cows will be exclusively pasture raised with no antibiotics or chemicals; the cows are solely finished on grass only, while the chickens receive certified organic feed and fresh grass every day.
Our farm was started on family land that has been conventionally farmed for 3 generations. Our goal at Baker Family pastures is to improve the land in a regenerative way while continuing the family tradition of farming. Please join us in changing the way meat is produced and consumed for the benefit of our health and that of many generations to come. We will only be selling poultry for now until we get our Cattle herd built up for possible future sales.

Available this week from our Organic Fed Pasture Raised Chickens. Hot Breakfast Sausage, Chicken Livers, Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast, Chicken Feet, Chicken Hearts, Chicken Thighs (2), Ground Chicken, Half Chicken, and Zestly Italian Sausage.

We also have one of our new Crafters: Periwinkle and Pine Company: She makes beautiful handmade wreaths, bouquets, and decor using high quality faux florals and greenery. Excellent for seasonal gifting or brighten up your home.

also welcome; Singing Bee Honey: She is a third generation beekeeper with 15 beehives in Woodbury, Tennessee. The honey produced is 100% local, raw, unfiltered, and pure. I do everything from managing the hives to harvesting the honey and labeling the jars. My plan is to continue to expand my apiary each year to increase inventory as return and new customers increase. Right now it is all liquid honey, but I plan to add cut comb honey next year.

News from some of our Growers:

Fall items are Curly Leaf Lettuce, Turnip Greens, Hakurei Turnips, Kohlrabi Purple and Green, Mixed color bundles of Radishes, Sweet Potatoes and Mountain Fresh Tomatoes. Thank you for all the well wishes and concerns during Catherine’s (my) absence, she’s back on the computer and might make a surprise visit to the market once in awhile, her final procedure will be November 5th with approximately a 4-5 week reoperation.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: We still have lots of green and growing things! Trouble is, not too many of them are in bloom this time of year, and I feel rather badly about the lack of color. However, with the cooler fall-ish weather (which hopefully may stay around), it is a really good time to plant perennials. September planting gives perennials and shrubs an opportunity to establish a good strong route system before the ground takes on a winter chill. This in turn will allow them to initiate healthy top growth in early spring, followed by plentiful blooms. This week I’ve added several spring bloomers to the market (astilbes and columbines for shade, coreopsis and creeping phlox for sun), joining a few late bloomers with flowers now (begonias, gauras, sedum, rudbeckia, turtlehead). Don’t forget our fresh-cut herbs, or if you prefer to grow your own, our herb plants. Some of the latter are a bit overgrown, but that just gives you more fresh herbs to preserve for winter use.

Always a Special THANK YOU to Quinn’s Mercantile for their support of our Locally Grown Market and the use of the front porch.
